IRAT is entering its third year of funding, but is currently looking for other sources of funding to support its work.

Drawing on the diverse expertise of imaging leaders from the Harvard academic and hospital community, the program offers free imaging consultations to investigators as they launch new imaging translational research projects.

* We are focused on assisting with the planning and design of research proposals and/or methods for image analysis and do not provide ongoing support for the implementation of new studies or the analysis of data from existing studies. Such “post-funding” research expertise will normally be covered by key personnel on the specific project funded by the investigator. We can however assist in the identification of appropriately trained individuals who are available for collaboration or service work (networking). Thus, for example, consultation is available for the preparation of a grant or IRB submission, but is not designed to support the implementation or analysis of a funded project. * Stephan Voss indicated that there is a great demand for more pediatric clinical imaging research but the resources at Children's Hospital are limited. The group supports pediatric imaging acquisition at sites that have the existing infrastructure to support it.
* Dr. Ellen Grant, who has been working with pediatric neuroimaging at sites within the consortium has agreed to provide consult services at the CTSC. Randy Gollub will meet with her and Rudolph Pienaar, the medical imaging and informatics expert, this week to learn more about the current status of Dr. Grant's support and how we can be most helpful going forward.
* Dr. Grant and Rudolph Pienaar have already begun to use XNAT as an imaging research data repository for multi-site projects and have image analysis workflows in place that would provide templates for other users. They can collaborate with the Imaging Consortium to share these resources.

# Cross site calibration for specific imaging modalities where there is clinical research need (e.g. multi-site fMRI or quantitative mMRI)
# Cross site sharing of specific image acquisition protocols (e.g. ASL from BIDMC)
# Integration of medical image analysis software into common platform (e.g. Slicer 3 support for visualization of Freesurfer results)
# Common Image Consultant that works across sites to support users
# Common Policies and Procedures for medical imaging (e.g. reconciling discrepancies for screening before Gadolinium infusions)
# Shared anonymized datasets for algorithm development etc
# Common image data management software, such as XNAT (concept paper in preparation by BIRN/NAMIC team members)
