New page

This is an outgrowth of the FBIRN/GCRC interaction with San Antonio. For more background, see the relevant pages. [[Sharing_and_expanding_a_taxonomy_database_of_fMRI_experimental_designs|Sharing and expanding a taxonomy database of fMRI experimental designs]]

Participants in this discussion: Angus (MN), Ayse (Duke/UNC), Chris (Duke/UNC), Cindy (BWH), Jess (UCI).

Action items: Review BrainMap Submit and Search & View (www.brainmap.org) to consider their methods of describing/classifying experiments, and how those may be useful/expandable to include FBIRN experiments and querying needs.

Noting that BrainMap is focused on meta-analysis, while FBIRN is more subject-oriented in its description of experiments. The distinction between Paradigm Class, Behavioral Domain, and Context was appreciated as capturing many of the nuances to describe differences between experiments at various levels. The Behavioral Domain taxonomy in particular could be expanded to be more specific, in order to facilitate communication among databases; though whether this would be useful for researchers querying the databases would need to be determined.
