Introduction

A one-day Slicer tutorial will be held at Washington University in St. Louis on July 1, 2010. Enrollment is limited to 30 people. The primary objective of this event is to introduce users to the Slicer environment, with a particular focus on its use for neurosurgical applications, fiber tracking, and functional localization.

  • 9:00-9:15 am Welcome and presentation of day activities
  • 9:15-9:45 am Introduction to the NA-MIC kit for clinical research applications
  • 9:45-11:00 am Hands-on session 1: Data Loading and 3D Visualization
  • 11:00-11:15 am Coffee break
  • 11:15-12:30 pm Hands-on session 2: Interactive Editing
  • 12:30-1:30 pm Lunch
  • 1:30-3:15 pm Hands-on session 3: Diffusion Tensor Imaging
  • 3:15-3:30 pm Coffee Break
  • 3:30-4:45 pm Hands-on session 4: Neurosurgical Planning
  • 4:45-5:00 pm Questions from the audience and concluding remarks

Preparations

Desktop workstations will be provided or bring your own laptop with Slicer already installed.

  • Hardware minimum requirement: 2GB of main memory and graphics hardware acceleration with 256 MB of dedicated graphics memory (nvidia preferred).
  • Supported OS: Windows, Linux and Mac OS X
  • We have just released the first release candidate for Slicer 3.6.
  • We will post the version for downloading the software and the tutorial datasets a few days before the event.
