Future Plans

At MGH and BWH the mi2b2 production servers live in research computing. For CHB it lives on Paul's desk, but will need to migrate to a longer term solution. Some discussion for this will have to happen between Dr. Robertson and Dr. Bickel. Will need longer term support beyond ARRA funding for production service. Shawn proposes a data distribution model in which in parallel to RPDR/i2b2 delivery of clinical data flat files that are for loading into Access or other db software tool, mi2b2 delivers a client application (works on all computer platforms) preloaded with the approved MRNs and path for data to be transferred from the mi2b2 server to the investigator's own secure data storage disk. Investigators at time of IRB application will be required to submit a file path to a HIPAA compliant storage disk. Mi2b2 support staff can then verify the security and the adequacy of the disk space as part of fulfilling the request.

mi2b2 software update

  • Still working to resolve the incompatibility issue at MGH site (was problem on both initial laptop and new desktop servers) where C-move requests for data sets with more than 2000 images fail because the fetch fails after 2000 images if C-find has indicated that there are more than 2000 images. When C-move command completes, it is not 100% certain that all the images listed by the C-find command have been obtained. This has been a problem since the beginning of DICOM time. Still not sure why. Suspect that this might be due to the DMC4chee tools. Have been testing out TMC-tk tools to see if they will solve the problem. Group continued to discuss possible sources of the problem and additional potential solutions. Steve suggests that DCM-tk tools might work and offers to work with Bill and Chris to test this idea this week.
  • Dave has continued to make progress on the UI including the "tree view".
