Meeting Minutes

Welcoming Jon Bickel

Jon is the new Director for Clinical Research IT at Children's Hospital Boston. He's also doing clinical shifts in their ED/urgent care. He worked most recently at Pittsburgh Children's, where he was very involved with their IT systems. He reports to Dan Nigrin who suggested that Jon might find our project of potential interest.

mi2b2 software

  • Chris is working with Bill and Paul to install Phase 2 at CHB. Progress got delayed by an unrelated crash of their VMWare. Once that is done, they will move on to install at BWH. Last week they set up a new local mi2b2 instance at Partners for testing. The cloud instance was not working properly for some of the image transfer testing. Work on de-bugging issues discovered at time of MGH installation will await completion of installs at other sites.
  • Shawn spoke last week with Carl Kesselman last Wednesday to follow up on the discussion on PixelMed and DMC4Chee to ask about on going BIRN support for PixelMed. PixelMed is a storage component (extracts header information and enters it into a database).
  • One scenario is that a local client machine (laptop or desktop) has OSIRIX or KPACS running on it and via VPN runs the DICOM to XNAT translator from Dan Marcus. Shawn is considering embedding the whole shebang into i2b2 (eclipse). Need to have Dan Marcus or Tim Brown to help think through exactly how to do this. Will revisit in upcoming meeting. Shawn and Chris will provide a Powerpoint to illustrate this discussion.

UI: Workflow analysis

  • Shawn is declaring this nearly complete.
