Required: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Two years college or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum years of experience required in the field:

Two years administrative/office experience required. Three years preferred. Additional education may be substituted for years of experience. Experience working with various software applications required.

  • Characteristic duties and responsibilities

(Duty class I)

    • Prepare expense report of the business trips
    • Coordinates special projects and events, office activities and committee meetings.
    • Locates and compiles information and formats reports, graphs, tables, records and other sources of information.
    • Assembles and categorizes facts and figures for written computation and calculations.
    • Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
    • Maintains records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding, updating and destruction.
    • Types routine correspondence and reports from dictation or handwritten copy using personal computer.
    • Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.
    • Completes various request forms for office supplies and equipment as directed.

    • Organize publication list in a computer database
    • Write summery report of the projects from document material provided by the laboratory members
    • Uses personal computer to prepare manuscripts, grant proposals, statistical reports, tables, and charts using knowledge of scientific, medical, literary, or other technical terms.
    • Process and track purchase order
    • Monitors monthly expenditure statements for budgets and prepares documents required to maintain balanced accounts for review and approval by supervisor.
