Harvard Translational Imaging Consortium Meeting Minutes July 28, 2009

In attendance:

  • Valerie Humblet
  • Charles Guttmann
  • Todd Perlstein
  • Yong Gao
  • Laura Alice
  • Simon Warfield
  • Jeff Yap
  • Wendy Plensiak
  • Mark Anderson
  • Bruce Rosen
  • Bill Hanlon

1. Update on imaging consultation requests

  • Clare received a request for consultation about MRS of liver. She asked the PI to fill the webform on the Catalyst website. The consultation is logged in JIR as Imaging-7. Clare will be the consultant and ask the group if she needs some help with the request.
  • Two requests from the SPL lab regarding XNAT central were received. Both Yong and Mark will be working on the issues to help the PI. Mark will work on the upload of data. Yong will work on the customization part. Regarding customization of XNAT central, we don't have access to the codes but we do have the source codes for XNAT to set up instance on our own.

2. JIRA system

  • By the end of the week, Valerie will have enter all the legacy data in the system.
  • An user guide for JIRA was uploaded on the WIKI page.

3. Material for quantitative imaging

  • Valerie received slides from Simon's group, Bob, Jeff and Todd
  • Charles will send some slides on MS.

4. Education material

  • Bob has some slides on NSF to be added to the material about MRI safety
  • Wendy and Jeff are working on the use of Slicer to view DCE-MRI data.

5. Informatics update

  • We are still waiting to learn if our administrative supplement will be funded. In the mean time, we have to think about a plan for the development of new features should we get the grant. If we get the money, there will be resources to hire programing help. The integration of XNAT with clinical data will require a lot of resources.
  • Regarding XNAT installation, Wendy and Yong met with Rudolph (CHB), Simon and Neil (CHB) and Brad Dickerson (MGH) to get a careful understanding of the different use cases. In all cases, they develop a parallel data management system to upload and manage the data on XNAT. Everything is documented on our WIKI page
    • The critical goals for each case were identified, so far there is no fatal flaw.
    • The make/break requirements were identified: need 24/7 access to data, make sure no data is lost, what happen if we need to store protected health information.
    • All the users need a rich client interface, PACS like. The also need a good image viewing quality.
    • It is very important to be able to couple OSIRIX and XNAT since many clinicians and researchers are using it. Yong will contact Dan Marcus and ask him if there is already a work in progress regarding that integration. He will also ask about a timeline for release for the new version of XNAT.
    • Simon and Bruce suggested to list all the individual priorities and generate a single list and work on prioritizing the tasks. We must look for the straight forwards tasks first so we can show progress to Catalyst Central and the medical community.
