Agenda
1. Consultation:
- JIRA #167: MRI elastography for in-vivo determination of mechanical properties of pelvic floor structures: The pathophysiology of pelvic organ prolapse (hernias of the uterus, vagina and rectum) involves acute and chronic forces that result in rupture and/or permanent deformation of pelvic floor connective tissue and musclulature. Successful surgical repair requires restoration or augmentation that will withstand those forces over decades. Currently, most attempts to measure the mechanical properties of pelvic floor elements has been using very small explants. MRI elastography may allow non-invasive, more relevant assessment of mechanical properties that would revolutionize the ability to model disesase states and assess repair techniques. I would like to collaborate with researchers in dynamic MRI imaging to see if MRI elastographic measurement of pelvic floor tissue properties is feasible.
2. Education program:

  • Need to complete speaker list<
  • Feedback on meeting with MGH education team
