Harvard Translational Imaging Consortium Meeting Minutes August 18, 2009

1. Update on imaging consultation requests

• There was no new consultation this week.

2. Meeting with Sabune Winkler on September 15

• On September 15, the consortium will have a meeting with Sabune Winkler (Director of Regulatory, Catalyst), Pamela Richmond (HMS IRB administrator) and Susanne Churchill (SHRINE).
• If most members are available, the meeting will be extend to 11 pm to review the education plan.

3. CTSA journal

• Last week, CTS Clinical and Translational Science was mentioned by Gordon William as the official journal of the CTSA. Valerie checked if it would be a interesting journal for the consortium to publish a review.
• In each issue of this journal, there is a section called CTSA profile. It is a perfect place for an article highlighting the fact that the imaging consortium is not just a consultation service but also provides education, informatics support, etc
• The following CTSA already posted a CTSA profile in the previous issues (click on the names of the CTSA to get access to their papers): Vanderbilt Institute (Nashville), UC Davis, Johns Hopkinks , Rockefeller University, Mayo Clinic, University of Pittsburgh

4. ISMRM case-based clinical education program

• The ISMRM case-based clinical education program (website) seems to be a format that we could adopt for the education program we are developing with the Catalyst. This subject will be put at the agenda for our t-con on September 1st when more members, already familiar with ISMRM, can attend.

5. Update on Slicer for DCE-MRI

• Jeff, Wendy and Ron continue to work on the development of Slicer as a tool for DCE-MRI image analysis. Wendy created a WIKI page on Slicer.org to report the progress.
• DCE-MRI is a very controversial subject. In order to clarify our goals for this project, Valerie, Clare and Bob will have a preliminary meeting on September 21 then report to the group.

6. MRI safety

• Valerie collected the MRI safety material from the different institutions and condensed it into a generic MRI safety tutorial.
• A important subject, most of the time not described in the material collected, is the use and risks of contrast agents. Valerie will add a couple of slides relative to the screening prior to injection of gadolinium-based contrast agents.
• There is also a need for harmonized screening forms and policies regarding MRI scan.
• Valerie will submit her slides to the group before the next meeting (September 1st) so members will have time to review it and make comments.

7. Informatics update

• Wendy, Mark and Yong met to discuss the new XNAT use case (BWH NCIGT).
  • Mark is loading legacy data into XNAT central before having the BWH instance up and running.
  • Meetings with the PIs will be scheduled to learn how they want their data to be presented. Wendy has built a questionnaire to better assess the needs and requirements of the PIs.
• The XNAT team have to decide (and test) what technique is best for bulk upload of data: pre-archive and validation or direct upload in the database.
• Simon asked to get an update on the data sharing between TIMC and CHB. Gordon Harris will follow-up with him.
