Harvard Translational Imaging Consortium Meeting Minutes August 18, 2009

1. Update on imaging consultation requests

  • There was no new consultation this week.


2. Meeting with Sabune Winkler on September 15

  • On September 15, the consortium will have a meeting with Sabune Winkler (Director of Regulatory, Catalyst), Pamela Richmond (HMS IRB administrator) and Susanne Churchill (SHRINE).
  • If most members are available, the meeting will be extend to 11 pm to review the education plan.

4. ISMRM case-based clinical education program

  • The ISMRM case-based clinical education program (website) seems to be a format that we could adopt for the education program we are developing with the Catalyst. This subject will be put at the agenda for our t-con on September 1st when more members, already familiar with ISMRM, can attend.


5. Update on Slicer for DCE-MRI

  • Jeff, Wendy and Ron continue to work on the development of Slicer as a tool for DCE-MRI image analysis. Wendy created a WIKI page on Slicer.org to report the progress.
  • DCE-MRI is a very controversial subject. In order to clarify our goals for this project, Valerie, Clare and Bob will have a preliminary meeting on September 21 then report to the group.


6. MRI safety

  • Valerie collected the MRI safety material from the different institutions and condensed it into a generic MRI safety tutorial.
  • A important subject, most of the time not described in the material collected, is the use and risks of contrast agents. Valerie will add a couple of slides relative to the screening prior to injection of gadolinium-based contrast agents.
  • There is also a need for harmonized screening forms and policies regarding MRI scan.
