I graduated with a masters degree ("Diplom" in Germany) in computer science in 2007 from Paderborn University, Germany. Then joined Fraunhofer MEVIS in Bremen, Germany where I worked as an applied research scientist and software engineer for advanced medical image analysis and computer vision with a focus on incorporating machine learning methods and emulating human-like reasoning processes. The last 6 years at MEVIS I also lead and managed projects for large industry customers. I finished my PhD in computer science at Jacobs University, Bremen, Germany in 2016. In 2017 I then switched from Fraunhofer MEVIS to the SPL at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
