1. Consultation requests submitted through the Catalyst website

  • The Imaging Consortium received one new consultation request and discussed it during the t-con. An update on two former requests was also given.
    • The Consortium unanimously agreed that there is a need for a tracking tool for the consultations. It is crucial that all consultations are optimally handled. One must be able to monitor the follow-up by the imaging specialists.
    • CTSC Central's web development team is developping electronic tools to help direct consultation requests to the appropriate consulting group and tools to track consultations. Valerie and Randy are attending a meeting on the subject on March 20. Minutes from that meeting will be posted on the WIKI page.
    • In order to improve the way the members handle the consultation requests during the weekly t-con, there is a need for more follow-up from the imaging specialists once they received the request forwarded by Valerie. They should try to be on the call for the next t-con or delegate someone from their institution. If needed by the nature of the consult, they are encourage to invite a specialist with the right expertise to participate in the t-con.
  • The subject of pay per service resources was brought to the conversation after discussing one of the consultation requests.
    • The list of these resources will be added to the list of imaging resources that Valerie is collecting from the different sites.
    • The Imaging Consortium should evaluate if they want to expand by offering fee for service.

2. XNAT engineer

  • Interviews were conducted last week and all the interviewers were asked to send their comments to Valerie who will post them on the secure Xythos website.
  • An evaluation of the candidates will be made during an upcoming conference call dedicated to the hiring of the XNAT engineer.

3. Hopkins’ new Center for Translational Imaging

  • The Hopkin's Center is funded by a gift from an anonymous donor.
  • The Imaging Consortium reiterated the need for resources to help investigators, especially young ones to implement what is recommended during the consultation.
    • The Members will discuss that issue with Catalyst Central and also during the IRAT/CTSA meeting in Baltimore (March 29-31) to see what is done in other centers funded by a CTSA grant.

4. Organizing Catalyst Consulting Activities

  • Catalyst Central has a proposal for the establishment of overall coordination of consulting support. It would be especially helpful for consultations that require several services.
  • Our system to triage the consultations is now well established and Valerie will be the perfect contact with the other Research Navigators.
  • As mentioned in point 1., a meeting will be held at the Countway library on March, 20 at 2pm.

5. Scientific Meeting Invitation: Translational Pharmacology

  • An invitation has been issued to our Harvard Catalyst faculty leaders to attend or present at a conference entitled, “Role of Bioanalysis and ADME in Translational Medicine”. Nobody from the consortium is interested in attending this meeting.

6. Educational Program

  • The educational program must be the next priority for the Imaging Consortium.
    • There is a request to develop a curriculum untitled Medical Imaging 101
    • Jeff suggested to schedule monthly symposiums at the different institutions. The speaker should be someone from another institution to expand the sharing of knowledge. The talk should be broadcast across the city.
    • There is also a demand for radiology residents training. The director for residency program from the different hospitals will be contacted.
    • We will use our weekly t-con to organize a face-to-face meeting in April to discuss the educational program. Michelle Wright, Harvard Catalyst Colloquium Coordinator will be invited to the meeting.
