1. Consultations

  • There were no new consultations this week except for a PCIR review request that was made to Dr. Tempany with very short notice. Group discussed the process for these requests coming to our team as this is still not completely clear. Randy will email the person doing the triage for Catalyst PCIR (Faith Fortune) to make sure that she is aware of how to best use Valerie to assist her in this process. Randy reviewed the instructions for this type of review especially noting that studies that are associated with NIH funding do NOT require scientific review. Rather, the PI for the study uploads the summary statement and that score is used for priority of support. For those studies (the majority) the role of the reviewer is primarily to ensure adequate resources are available to support the study.

2. Education program

  • The neuroimaging session at BWH on April 9th had an ok attendance, roughly 20 people, out of ~47 who registered. Valerie sent a reminder to participants the day before. She will do the same for the upcoming sessions.
  • May 18th is the tentative date for a face to face session for this group to meet and "story board" a new hands on workshop for training on how to use Osirix from a typical hospital Radiology workstation to pull up an image data set and do a simple analysis and save the results. We need the hands-on meeting to collect all the current practices of how we work with medical imaging data in clinical practice and research.

3. Multi-center trial

  • Bob Lenkinski is leading this subgroup and will convene their first meeting next week. Updates will be given to the whole consortium as progress is made.
