1. Update on imaging consultation requests

  • Discussion of the ongoing consultations (Dr Cypess, imaging of brown fat, Dr Chitnis, data transfer) and new consultation (Dr Rodman, imaging of brown fat
    • The project with Dr Chitnis is finished, he is now able to query the MGH PACS system to send data to BWH.
    • Charles will meet Dr Cypess regarding the use of Slicer to image brown fat.
    • Charles will contact Dr Rodman to assess his needs since it is similar to the one he is working on with Dr Cypess)
  • The members of the consortium receive a lot of consultation sent directly to them. It has been a struggle to convince the investigators to switch to the webform. In order to count those consults, members will enter them themselves on the webform and Valerie will track down PI to get their NIH ERA commons.

2. Education plan

  • A first agenda for talks with the names of people should be finalized by next week.
    • Jeff and Valerie will meet with Michelle Wright next week to discuss that agenda.
  • Randy contacted David Boas and Steve Stufflebeam who are the directors of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) course: "Imaging Biophysics and Clinical Applications" and they agreed to share the material with our group. Valerie will post a link to the different lectures on our WIKI page.

3. MRI safety material

  • Valerie is collecting MRI safety material from the different institutions. She will summarize them, put together a deck of slides, a hand out and a check list. She will ask Bob to review it and then show it to the group.

4. Speakers for Radiology grand rounds

  • The group, in collaboration with Duke University and Johns Hopkins submitted a proposal for an educational course for the 2009 RSNA Annual Meeting and it has been approved. The title is: "Quantitative medical imaging for clinical research and practice". This talk will be condensed in a 50 minutes talk for the radiology grand rounds.
  • Valerie will contact the radiology resident program director at each institution and ask if they would be interested in such a presentation.

5. Future important meetings

  • On Tuesday July 14, 209, Sabune Winkler will join us for the t-con, she will be able to answer all the regulatory questions we have for our different project (transfer of data, IRB for multi-institution studies, etc)
  • On Tuesday July 14, 2009, Randy, Bruce, Gordon and Valerie will present the evaluation plan to Lee, Laura and Steve. The education plan must be finalized (with deadlines) by then and be included in the evaluation plan.

6. Biomedical informatics

  • Yong and Valerie have been tasked to create a catalogue of imaging resources. A spreadsheet is built and will be send to key people at the different institutions to gather information about the valuable data for deeper analysis.
  • Yong will meet on Tuesday June 16 with the Harvard XNAT team. He then will make decision about harmonizing that one to get something more robust.
  • The XNAT leadership team will be in Boston the last week of June at the the FIRST JOINT PROJECT WEEK of hands-on research and development activity for Image-Guided Therapy and Neuroscience applications. Yong will participate and work with them on sequences development etc.
